Workshop on Job Quality in Post-transition, Emerging and Developing Countries

Description : The labor economics literature has seen a growing interest in the role of job quality over the last years. To a large extent, this interest stems from substantial impacts of the quality of employment on important aspects of people‘s lives, ranging from productivity to health and life expectancy. Not surprisingly, the issue of job quality stays high on the public policy agenda, including national governments and international organizations. The G20 Leaders have adopted last year in Antalya the G20 framework on promoting quality jobs and asked the OECD and the ILO to assist monitoring progress in promoting not only more but also better jobs along the lines of the agreed framework. Work is ongoing at the World Bank, the OECD and the ILO on mapping different dimensions of job quality into concrete policies in different countries.
